| NORTHERN ILLINOIS GAS COMPANY
and COMMONWEALTH EDISON serve all of DeKalb County.
Both companies will prepare a detailed forecast
of energy costs based upon company-supplied requirements
for consumption (kilowatts/terms), demand, and
gas pressure/electrical amperage. In providing
discounts from regular rates, economic development
incentive rates are available from Commonwealth
Edison for new load and/or consumption. Savings
of 20 to 33% may be observed within the first
year. Both utility companies have excellent reserve
capacities that provide reliable service and outstanding
repair and customer service for current and future
needs. |

| Verizon serves all of DeKalb
County. Services include telephone service, electronic
switching and data quality communications with
links to ordinary wire, and microwave and fiber
optic transmission for long distance purposes. |

Solid Waste
|
| Waste Management Corporation
operates the DeKalb County landfill. The local
landfill has 7.4 years of remaining capacity.
DeKalb County has the highest industrial, commercial,
and residential recycling rate in the State of
Illinois. A number of companies locally operate
aggressive recycling and reuse programs, including
Waste Management, DeKalb Iron and Metal Company
(DIMCO), and Northern Illinois University's Student
Association. Numerous other special waste haulers
serve the county. |
